NURSING OPPORTUNITIES | Nursing at Providence << Back Starting Point: The Graduate Nursing Internship Program You've completed your nursing education and you're ready to take the first steps on your career path as a health care professional. At Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals, we'd like to walk alongside you, giving you the confidence you'll need in your role as a registered nurse. You're invited to begin your professional career through Starting Point, a special program designed to address the individual needs of the graduate nurse. Starting Point is a fully paid transitional program offering more than the usual nursing orientation programs provide. Through structured experiences, you will come to know that Providence cares about individuals holistically, whether they are patients or members of the Providence staff. Starting Point is also an excellent choice if you're an RN making a change to acute care after a limited experience in another health care setting, or if you're a medical-surgical nurse with less than one year of experience. The program includes three to six months of orientation based on your practice setting. It starts with a week of didactic and skills review that's tailored for the new nurse and focused on high-risk acute care. Providence hires new grads in areas such as ICU, MCCU, CSR, OR, PACU and CVOR, as well as medical/surgical. As part of the Starting Point program, Providence also offers specialized tracks for nurses in all areas of specialty. These tracks are part of structured pathways to learn specialty nursing in numerous environments. The program is free to employees.
