NURSING OPPORTUNITIES | Nursing Units << Back Cath Lab The Providence cath lab features six fully equipped labs. We performed almost 7,000 catheterizations in 2006 - more than any other hospital in South Carolina. This included: 3,924 diagnostic procedures. 3,039 therapeutic procedures. Procedures include PTCA, coronary stenting, DCA, rotational atherectomy and intravascular ultrasound imaging (IVUS), various peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. We were the first hospital in South Carolina to use carotid stents and the newest drug-eluting stents. We were the first hospital in the Midlands to perform alcohol septal ablation procedures. We participate in numerous clinical trials to bring patients the latest technology and treatments. 2 Heart This is an 18-bed patient unit for pre-and post-cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology studies. This unit is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m until 9 p.m., and is not open on weekends or holidays. It is a fast-paced clinical area with an average census of 18.
