Tilt Table Testing
This study is often recommended for patients with recurring fainting spells to determine the cause of the spells by tilting the patient at different angles. During the test, the patient lies on a table that may be adjusted from horizontal to a nearly vertical position while the specialist monitors heart rate, blood pressure, electrical impulses in the heart and oxygen levels. The tilt table test is designed to induce a fainting spell under controlled conditions so the physician can determine best treatment options for the patient.
