Chapel
Providence Hospital Northeast believes that healing is of the whole person: body, mind, feelings and spirit. The Pastoral Care staff brings patients and their families the support, comfort, presence, prayers and counseling that help the healing process. A chaplain is available for Providence Hospital Northeast patients and their families during regular weekday office hours (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and is on call for evening, weekend and holiday emergencies.

The Chapel is located on the first floor across from the cafeteria. It is open to the public 24 hours a day. A chaplain is on call at all times. Every morning, a prayer is shared with staff and patients via the hospital's speaker system. Please contact the Pastoral Care Office at 865-4516 for more information.

Communication assistance is available upon request, including:

Deliveries may be received after patients transfer out of the intensive care unit.

Gift Shop
The gift shop is staffed by volunteers and is generally open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Weekend and additional hours are subject to volunteer availability.

Guest Trays
Guest trays are available for a nominal charge. Orders for guest trays should be placed at the nursing station at least two hours prior to the next meal.

Home Health Care
Assistance in coordinating Medicare-certified home heath care services is available through the hospital's Care Management Services department. Associates of Care Management can arrange access to a wide variety of services with a physician's order including skilled nursing, home infusion therapy, pharmacy services, physical therapy, speech and occupational therapy, medical social services and home medical equipment. For more information, call 865-5396.

Internet Access
Wireless Internet access is available for your convenience in the cafeteria, freely available for use by patients, family members and other visitors.

Interpreters
The hospital has access to interpreters for a number of foreign languages should you require it. If assistance is needed, please ask your nurse.

Mail
Letters and packages for patients are delivered to your room Monday through Friday. Letters and parcels that arrive after you have gone home will be forwarded to the home address indicated on your records. Stamps and stationery are available in the gift shop. A United States Postal Service mailbox is located outside the main entrance of the hospital.

Nursery

There is no general viewing of the newborns in our nursery because we encourage new moms to let their baby room-in with them. However, pictures of many of the newborns can be viewed online at the hospital’s Web site under “Baby Photos.”

Overnight Accommodations

An overnight visitor pass may be obtained from the nursing staff on the Family Care Unit and the Intensive Care Unit after 4 p.m. The obstetric nursing staff will distribute overnight passes upon request, provided there are no written restrictions for the patient.

Patients in the Family Care Unit may have an overnight visitor, but only at the discretion of the patient's physician, unit clinical manager or charge nurse.

Overnight visitors must be at least 16 years of age or older, with the exception of the obstetrics unit. Two family members may remain in the ICU waiting area overnight. Only one overnight visitor may remain in an obstetric patient's room, and must use the adjacent sitting room.

Parking
Parking for patients and visitors is available in the parking lot located across from the front entrance of the hospital. Patients and visitors are cautioned not to park in reserved areas or certain designated areas. Please be sure to lock your car. If you need assistance, please call the Safety and Security Department at 865-4690.

Smoking
For the benefit of others and for your health, Providence Hospital Northeast strictly prohibits smoking throughout the hospital. A designated smoking area is located between the main entrance and the medical office building. Please call Safety and Security at 865-4690 or ask your nursing staff for assistance. We thank you for your support in helping us provide a positive and healthy environment for all of our patients, visitors and employees.

Telephones and Computers
A telephone is located at every bedside in non-critical units and is free to all patients. Outgoing calls can be made 24 hours a day. Telephones are also located in the waiting rooms. We ask that you limit the use of these phones whenever possible.

When dialing within the hospital, dial the last four digits of the number you are trying to reach. To dial outside the hospital, dial 9 and your number. For long distance calls, dial 9, 0, your number plus your calling card number, or call collect by dialing 9, 0 and the phone number. For assistance, dial 0. Pay telephones are located on the first floor across from the cafeteria, in the Emergency Room waiting area, and on each floor.

Cellular phones are permitted within the hospital unless otherwise instructed by your health care provider.

Internet connection is available for your computer by request. Please ask your nurse if this is a service you will need during your stay.

Valuable or Lost Items
Please do not bring items of value to the hospital. Providence will only be responsible for those valuables which have been specifically entrusted to the care of Providence Hospitals to be protected in its safe. You will be given a written receipt for all items, which must be presented when the items are withdrawn. All valuables that remain in your possession are exclusively your responsibility upon admission.

Vending Machines
Vending machines, adjacent to the cafeteria, provide snacks, soft drinks and coffee 24 hours a day.

Visiting Hours
Visitors can be good medicine for patients. Family members and friends are welcome to visit. However, patient care is our primary concern at Providence Hospital Northeast, and in order to enhance the quality of care, specific visiting hours and regulations have been established for each unit.

Regular visiting hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Only four visitors are allowed at one time. Children under 12 years of age may visit parents Monday through Friday from 3 to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. These rules apply to all patients' families.

Intensive Care Unit
Visiting a patient in the Intensive Care Unit is limited to immediate family members because patients require very specialized care. Only two visitors are allowed at a time from the immediate family. No children under the age of 14 are allowed. All visits are at the discretion of the nursing staff and the patient's condition.

Surgery
Because of the number of surgeries performed at Providence Hospital Northeast each day, we ask that no more than two family members visit surgery patients prior to surgery.

Waiting Areas
There are specially designated lounge areas for visitors on each patient floor and on the main floor in the lobby. During certain hours, a volunteer hostess is on duty in the general surgery waiting room to keep family members informed about the progress of surgery.
