May 12, 2008 Successful Breastfeeding
WHERE: Providence Health Education Center
TIME: 6:30 PM

This prenatal breastfeeding class will help you prepare before and after delivery. Breastfeeding difficulties are related to latch and positioning; therefore, over half of the class is devoted to the basics. Heavy emphasis is placed on how to know feedings are going well, and if not, how to get help. In addition, common hospital routines and newborn behaviors are discussed. We will also check out at a variety of different pumps and what they are best used for. Dads are encouraged to attend as well, since they are a great source of support for mom.

May 17, 2008 Providence Heart & Sole Women's Five-Miler

More than a thousand women of all ages are expected to pack the streets of downtown Columbia on Saturday, May 17, when Providence Heart Institute and the Carolina Marathon Association host the sixth annual Providence Heart & Sole Women’s Five Miler. The state’s only all-women road race includes a five-mile run, and a three- and five-mile walk. The Heart & Sole Five Miler attracted more than 1,000 women participants last year.
